Pieces by Secret Lentil have been favorites of mine for going on a decade now, and it has been such a delight to get to visit their creator (and... cousins? All the interesting clothes you admire but won't spirit home to live in your closet) now that I'm within driving distance! Helen does mad things with fabric that treat bodies like playgrounds in all of the best ways. And there's a chandelier! And all the colors! If there's anything even a little bit appealing about Helen's work, I highly recommend inviting a piece into your closet. They are everything, everywhere clothes.

Secret Lentil makes the most amazing artifacted clothing I've ever owned in my life. Helen, the Lentil In Charge, is a great designer, and has such a genuine and beautiful soul that she puts into her work. Nothing is the same--every piece is handmade and completely one of a kind--and often the pieces reflect the natural world in their shapes. SL clothes are kind of my happy place. Plus, they're size inclusive, everything from XXS all the way to 5X, and some pieces are free sized or oversized. Everything is made for layering as well, so you can build up and take off as needed. Thanks for making my wardrobe like, actually good.

This is my happy place. Helen and Mike are filled to the brim with creative ideas and their creativity inspires everyone who comes in. Helen’s clothing is incredible. I guess I would call it “art-driven industrial”. Each piece is a work of art that you get to wear. Mike’s artwork will blow your mind, especially when you find out he is relatively new to the process. Both of their work melds together beautifully.

You are walking in the heat of summer on concrete, then asphalt. Everything is covered in a light yellow steam, and the brightness hurts your eyes. You walk into a building DELAVAN it says, and you hear a LOUD LAUGH as soon as you're inside its coolness. You're overcome with the desire to find this laugh; this laugh is fabric folded like sand after a tide, a purple soft berry brushing against a leathery leaf in a breeze, linen that snaps in the wind and comes to rest across your face. You follow the LOUD LAUGH through corridors, to the friends you know but have never met, a secret you have kept from yourself. You walk into the studio. "Go ahead, you can touch it!" LOUD LAUGH.
